I have decided to go for topic number 4:

The Story of Subté Art

For those keeping track of my progress, I originally was studying Political Argentine Art but then decided to change to Subway Art. So I am starting from the beginning once again!

I realized that as much as I want to know the History of Argentina and my love for Contemporary art, I found myself drawn more to the Subway art. There was something simplistic and playful about the art there. The subway art is public art - seen by all walks of life. Whether you are rich or poor, you use the Subway, which means that everyone sees the same thing. So what is it that they are seeing everyday? What does this art tell about their culture? I became more intrigued by the everyday life of an Argentine and the encounters they have in the Subway than the high art displayed in galleries that people have to pay to get into.

Each week I will post an entry of a piece of art I have found in one of the stations of the Subway or also called, Subté to take a look at how art impacts the everyday life of an Argentine!
